Comparing Schools When You Make A Move

When you are making a move you always want to consider location, the home itself, the school system, taxes, closing costs, your interest rate and your mortgage.

A good public school system can be an important consideration for home buyers, even if you don’t have school-aged children. Good schools can enhance the resale value of your home and make it more attractive to a broader range of potential buyers and tenants.

To check out school information, go to School Match, which offers school data services. Here you’ll find test scores, student-teacher ratios, spending, college bound information and more.

When you find that special home you look to be there for a long time.  However if you have done your homework and do have to make a move sooner than expected, having done these things will help you get the best price for your property if you do have to sell.

Debra indeed very important even for buyers without kids for future re-sale.  All school districts are not created equal and all buyers need to be made aware of that.

I always get questions about schools as so many of the first time home buyers are looking at raising a family. Others that are retiring here don't find it as much of a priority. Good you have a place to send them for doing their homework.

What helpful information to share with people moving into or around your area, Debra. You know your area inside and out.

Hi Debra, I agree with your commenters about your link to School Match.  We have a great website for our schools in Indiana as well.  Pats or Giants?

Hannah- The same here in these rural areas.

John- Yes we are not supposed to talk schools but we can be a source for their resources.

Janis- Most people usually know already where they want to look.

Lottie- Thanks Lottie for commenting!

George- Thanks George!

Sharon- Definitely Giants!

It is important for people to know what they are buying into, Debra. Schools make a big difference in area choices for buyers--with or without school-age children.

It is so true Debbie... Everyone wants to live in Cooper City, FL (a city in Broward County) because all 5 public schools are A++.

The school comparison sites can be great for seeing test scores and overall rankings - but it also helps to visit the favorite schools and really get a feel for them.
